Italy and family values

This was on Fail Blog, part of the Cheezburger family of websites today. It is Bertolli's response to the comments on September 26th from Barilla's CEO Guido Barilla. He stated that he would never feature a homosexual family in any of his companies advertisements. He feels that it is destructive to children to grow up in a same sex household instead of a "traditional" family.

Now I love Italy, and I'm heterosexual, but I thought it was a pretty funny comment to come from the CEO of an Italian company, given the fact that the former Premier of Italy, Silvio Berlusconiis an over 70 yr. old man who was indicted for having used the services of a 16 year old prostitute. But strangely enough, he was not widely condemned by the people of Italy. Just saying.

It's the Weekend. Yeah! Rain; Just What We Always Wanted. Not!

Bizarro - September 28, 2013

I love these cartoons; Get Fuzzy especially.

Our weekend is going to be a wet and windy one, it has of course already started. I was able to let the cats out earlier during a brief break in the weather, that did not last long. It's hard for them to adjust to not getting to go out all day on the weekends when I'm home, but the weather is crappy, and that's the way it is.

Saturday is my day for household chores including laundry. Munchkin decided to get in the middle of me making the bed......

Jaws

This was on Cheezburger today. Cracked me right the heck up, Jaws is one of my favorite movies, for the humor of it actually.

I will never forget seeing it in the theater when I was a kid. The theater was packed and my sister and I had to sit on one of the benches in the back, because we didn't get in until right when it was starting. I can still remember the entire theater erupting in screams when Ben Gardner's head pops out of the wrecked boat.

As an adult, I love the scene on the boat when Quint, Brody and Hooper are comparing wounds and "war" stories - right before the shark attacks again.

The Princess Bride

Okay, so most people that know me, know I am a big movie buff, and that I'm pretty geeky to boot. And one of my all-time favorite movies is "The Princess Bride". Somewhere in the last year I got the idea in my head that we should have a Princess Bride Day that is along the lines of "Talk Like a Pirate Day", which is September 19th. A day where everyone can have fun and quote their favorite lines from the movie. "Anybody want a peanut?"

I chose September 25th, because according to the official Prince Bride website, and Wikipedia, this is the day that the movie premiered, specifically back in 1987. And since I'm not on Facebook, I'm on Blogger, I decided to get started spreading the word here. I'm also having fun with a DVD give-away every day this coming week at work, where I know that most of my co-workers think I'm a goofball, but what the heck, life is short.

So if you are similarly inspired, have fun storming the castle with Fezzik, Buttercup, Westley and Inigo Montoya. They're the next best thing to a nice M.L.T. - Mutton Lettuce and Tomato, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomatoes are ripe.....they're so perky, I love that!

September Summer

Woody

Woody & Munchkin
The deer have been around again a lot this summer, and I really enjoy that. Boo still usually hides under the deck when they are around. Last night right before dusk I saw the two fawns heading over to Dave's backyard, the doe must have been ahead of them, because I never saw her.

And my little buddy Munchkin just couldn't resist these nice clean sheets.

This 'n That

Tom Cat and Munchkin

Woody

When the sun came out and it started to warm up today, the deck was still too damp for the cats to lay on, so Tommy and Munchkin improvised.

Woody found his own spot in the sun. After all of our rain this week that seemed like we were jumping right into fall, I'm glad that it is getting sunny and warmer again. It's supposed to be nice all week and I am definitely looking forward to it.
