Sweet Peas

Sweet Peas
I am so ready to plant my sweet peas, I just have to get some more potting soil. Our typical spring weather is so back and forth between cold/wet and sunny/warm; this weekend, wet of course.
I'm ready for it to be nice and work outside.

I have gotten a lot of my spring cleaning done and was doing more inside today. In between I took a power nap and Boo And Woody joined me. They were so sweet together, curled up and cozy ☺

Thinking Out Loud

This was on Fail Blog, one of the websites in the suite of Cheezburger websites. I find it ironic though, because I think it's really cool. I think they should have a site that is devoted just to cool and interesting things that make your day.  Just thinking out loud. Here are some more.

Shame On Congress!

"Shame on you!" is right. As if it wasn't already obvious enough to anybody paying attention,  Congress doesn't give a rats ass about the people that elected them. They won't bite the hand that feeds them, and that's the NRA and every other highly funded lobbyist group in town. Why do we even bother to hold elections? The vote today in Washington makes it crystal clear that our elected officials are completely out of touch with the average American. I am so absolutely disgusted.

The Boston Marathon

Jeff Bauman before the race
Jeff B.

*Updated April 20th

The link below is for Jeff Bauman (pictured here) who was at the finish line cheering on his girlfriend. He lost both legs below the knee, and saw one of the two brothers responsible for the bombings walk right past him in the crowd.
http://www.gofundme.com/BucksforBauman is one of several websites that you can go to, to donate for individual victims in the Boston Marathon bombing. This site was featured on C-Net and is a secure site to my understanding.

I caught up with Denise via email this week, and Martin did not run in the marathon this year, so I was relieved they were not affected.
******************************************************************

I don't have anything profound to say, I just am in tears tonight learning more about what happened today in Boston. For as horrific as the pictures are, I forced myself to look at them, to know what these people went through.

I am thinking about my friend and former boss Denise, and her son Martin who has been a long distance runner since high school. I'm pretty sure he has run in the Boston Marathon before, but I don't know if he was there today. If he was, or if they were, I hope they are okay. And I wonder if we will have to deal with this kind of terrorism for the rest of our existence.

Sweet Peas - three weeks in

I'm excited that the Sweet Peas I started from last year's seeds are coming up and looking good!
At first only half of the little peat pots were sprouting after a week, and I was bummed, but I just had to be patient it turns out.

I have to get out this afternoon and mow the lawn. I'm hoping that it has dried enough since this morning that it will be okay. It has rained almost every day since my first mowing two weeks ago and it is back to being a jungle again, ugh.

Things are picking up for the season at work again, but no overtime yet, so I have to get as much done at home as I can before I don't have the time. I have been in a spring cleaning mode, organizing and getting rid of stuff I don't need and use. Trying to curb any tendencies to collect as much as possible.

The Daily Show - April 2, 2013

The Daily Show from Tuesday April 2nd was a good one. It started with a two part segment on Kim Jong Un of North Korea and the second was on Pope Francis. I find it interesting that the new Pope is getting so much negative attention for showing himself to be a man of the people - isn't that really what it's all about?

Spring

Mt. Baker from the Cordata Bus Station

Another sunny day today after a beautiful weekend! I'm still a bit sore from working out in the yard all afternoon Saturday. I got the first lawn mowing of the season under my belt, as well as some tree trimming.

Sweet Peas 2013 - Day Two

I also started my sweet peas inside from seeds from last year, mixed in with some seeds from my coworker Peggy's plant. Her sweet peas were very colorful and mine were very fragrant. I'm hoping that they blend....
