February Storm

There are still large patches of snow around my house as of today, but thankfully all of the ice that resulted from the freezing rain is gone. It started last Friday and was a brutal week. Snow, freezing rain, bitter cold and wind and it came in three rounds. Lots of tree damage in the county including where I live. In the midst of the snow last Sunday where these huge Robins.

Completely Lazy Sunday

For the first time in years I am staying home on a Sunday,  and it's kinda weird but I'm choosing not to feel guilty about it.

We got more snow yesterday and there was some still around from last weekend. I was doing a lot better as far as my cold and decided that I just didn't want to go out today. I always get a Sunday paper and share the ads at work but not this week!

I've been curled up here in the big chair in the living room for hours with Woody & Boo. Surfing the Web on my phone, snuck in a nap,  and now I'm posting these pictures!

The snow is still falling and probably will be all day and into the night. It is pretty, and probably won't do any major damage to everything that is starting to bud.

When I went to Target after work the other day, and was walking around the outside of the mall, I saw the flowering trees there were starting to show buds of the leaves.

I went out on the porch earlier to put more seed out for the squirrels and it is definitely cold. Sometimes here when it snows it doesn't feel cold enough to be, yet it is. The other thing I like about the snow when you're outside is how still the sound is.

They were originally predicting snow mixed with rain for today, then the forecast was for it to start snowing in the middle of the night last night. Well it sure did, but it's noon and it's still snowing! I've still got packages to mail, so this is a little kink in my plans, but I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that everything comes out fine.

Spring is Here!

So of course two days into Spring and we had 10-15 minutes of pretty snowfall when I was at work Friday. It didn't stick, but it was pretty to watch. Mother Nature doesn't go by our calendar...

I love the spring flowers, so many things starting to bloom and my day lilies are about a foot high now. We had such a beautiful sunny day yesterday, just a bit chilly. The lawn looks like a jungle, and I really should mow, but it is still too damp, and I don't like mowing with a chilly breeze.

But anyways this cartoon is so totally me - my legs are as white as the driven snow!.

What wild weather we had today - sunshine and mild, to cold and snowing like crazy all within a few hours. I took this video at about 2:40 when it had been snowing for about 15 minutes.
Some flowering trees are already budding and my day lilies are up about 6 inches or so already.
I got a lot of sleep this weekend hoping I don't get the bug that is going around. I blew my afternoon Saturday with a long nap, I'm not getting enough done around the house!
I've been following the GOP Presidential Primaries, and Rick Santorum is downright scary. Romney is an arrogant jerk who's motivations are clearly not to help the average American. This election is going to be a nail biter. After the comments Santorum has made these last few days, all I can think is that he is the white-bread equivalent of a Middle Eastern dictator. He wants to enforce his religious views on all of America and keep people uneducated. If he wins, any progress we made as a country over the last 20 years would be wiped out in no time at all...
